The University of Geneva has recently been confirmed in its role as the Leading House for 2017-2020. Countries covered, in addition to Russia, now include Azerbaijan, Armenia, Belarus, Georgia, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Moldova, Mongolia, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan, Ukraine and Uzbekistan.
Discussions are under way to launch calls for projects and other activities to promote collaboration between Swiss institutions of higher education and their counterparts in these countries.
A call for Joint Research Projects was launched on 2 February 2015 by the Swiss National Science Foundation in collaboration with the Ministry of Education and Science of the Russian Federation (MES), the Russian Humanities Foundation (RFH) and the Russian Foundation for Basic Research (RFBR). The funding of 23-26 projects is envisaged in the call.
